Tattoo Removal Methods: 1500 Years in the Making

Did you know that people first created processes to remove their unwanted tattoos as many as 1500 years ago?

During the past 1500 years, various methods of tattoo removal have been created, tested and (many) rejected for lack of successful results. Of the more successful tattoo removal methods, one common thread is evident: the use of chemical peeling agents.

For more information about the history of tattoo removal, read this study.

If you've been thinking about tattoo removal options, don't forget to consider chemical tattoo removal. Unlike laser tattoo removal, chemical tattoo removal is much more affordable and when using products like Nuviderm, treatments can be done at home.

Tattoo Removal Creams: Same as Nuviderm?

So you may be wondering if tattoo removal creams are the same as Nuviderm at-home fade and tattoo removal. The answer is NO!

Tattoo removal creams commonly contain hydroquinone, which is a carcinogenic that has been banned from many European and Asian countries. This harmful ingredient can lead to darkening of the skin in the treated area, which is the exact opposite result wanted when trying to remove a tattoo!

Nuviderm is not a cream and does not contain hydroquinone. Nuviderm at-home fade and tattoo removal contains TCA, which is a common skin peeling agent used by dermatologists, health spas and cosmetic surgeons. Nuviderm is a liquid solution that when mixed with distilled water, effectively allows you to fade and remove your tattoo at home. Hear what Nuviderm users have to say about Nuviderm and removing tattoos.

Are TCA Tattoo Removal Methods Successful?

According to a six-year medical study (performed from 1979 to 1984), approximately 85% of patients using TCA for tattoo removal were pleased with their results!

The tattoo removal medical study used a solution of TCA and distilled water to remove tattoos on 670 patients. The entire tattoo removal process and results were published in the study "The treatment of tattoos with TCA: experience with 670 patients" in the March 1988 issue of British Journal of Plastic Surgery.

Learn more about the tattoo removal medical study.

TCA is the active agent in Nuviderm, an at-home fade and tattoo removal, making it an effective at-home tattoo removal treatment that is also affordable. Find out more about how Nuviderm removes tattoos.

U.S. Local Business Association’s Award Plaque Honors the Achievement

WASHINGTON D.C., March 20, 2009 -- For the second consecutive year, NUVIDERM.COM has been selected for the 2009 Best of League City Award in the Tattoo Removal category by the U.S. Local Business Association (USLBA).

The USLBA "Best of Local Business" Award Program recognizes outstanding local businesses throughout the country. Each year, the USLBA identifies companies that they believe have achieved exceptional marketing success in their local community and business category. These are local companies that enhance the positive image of small business through service to their customers and community.

Nationwide, only 1 in 70 (1.4%) 2008 Award recipients qualified as 2009 Award Winners. Various sources of information were gathered and analyzed to choose the winners in each category. The 2009 USLBA Award Program focused on quality, not quantity. Winners are determined based on the information gathered both internally by the USLBA and data provided by third parties.

Can't Get a Job With Your Tattoos?

It's hard enough to get a job in today's economy, but if you have an embarrassing tattoo, you might have an even more difficult time landing your dream job. Now, even the federal government agrees.

In Spring 2009, Congress sent President Obama a $410 billion spending bill that also included $200,000 for a small tattoo removal clinic in California that specifically helps people who can't afford to get tattoo removal treatments like laser removal. One volunteer at the clinic said that most people who want to remove their tattoos are in their mid 30s and looking for a job.

"They're caught between a rock and hard place," said the volunteer. "They want to be able to get jobs, but they can't afford to remove it, and they won't get hired with the tattoos."

Because tattoo removal methods like laser tattoo removal can be expensive and require many treatment sessions, this clinic is a blessing for unemployed people who want a tattoo removed. For people with embarrassing tattoos, they might want to get that tattoo removed before a job interview.

Read more about the clinic and the funding for tattoo removal at the Sacramento Bee.

If you have an embarrassing tattoo you want removed before a job interview, consider Nuviderm's at-home fade and tattoo removal. This tattoo removal method is affordable and can be used at home, unlike laser tattoo removal. Nuviderm is guaranteed to work to remove embarrassing tattoos.

Can a Tattoo Really Be Removed? I Thought They Were Permanent...

If you've ever gotten--or thought about getting--a tattoo, you've probably heard the warnings from your friends and family. "A tattoo? Are you sure? They're permanent!"

A tattoo is made by inserting ink into the layers of the skin. This process is used so that your inked design stays on your body forever. Because of the permanency of the process, tattoos are a great way to show your interests, love and personality off without any day-to-day upkeep.

But what if years from now, you change your mind about your inked design? Can you remove a tattoo?

Luckily, there are various forms of tattoo removal. One tattoo removal option is using TCA, or trichloroacetic acid, which is a common skin peeling agent used by doctors, health spas and private individuals to remove fine lines, wrinkles and acne scars on the face. Nuviderm fade and tattoo removal uses TCA as its main ingredient and is effective in fading away tattoos with proper treatment.

Nuviderm is affordable (considerably less expensive than other tattoo removal methods like laser treatment) and treatment can be done in the privacy of your own home. Read more about the tattoo removal process, and then find out about more about the Nuviderm products and kits available.

Celebrity Oops! Hayden Panettiere's Tattoo

Hayden Panettiere, star of NBC's "Hereos," recently got a tattoo to show her belief in living without regrets. Ironically, she may now regret getting that tattoo!

Hayden intended to get a tattoo of the phrase "to live without regrets" in Italian, which should be "vivere senza rimpianti."

However, Hayden's tattoo has a slight misspelling. Instead of "rimpianti," an extra "i" was inked in; her tattoo reads "rimipianti."

Hayden's long tattoo runs down the left side of her back, making it easily visible in some outfits.

Maybe Hayden should consider tattoo removal methods, including Nuviderm.

Laser Tattoo Removal: How Effective Is It?

One of the most well-known methods of tattoo removal is laser tattoo removal...but how effective is it?

While some have had positive results, laser tattoo removal doesn't work 100% of the time. Because laser tattoo removal requires multiple visits (with each costing up to hundreds of dollars) it can be a time-consuming and costly option, with no guarantee for perfect results.

According to one laser tattoo removal patient, she received 17 treatments without any real results!

Watch a video interview, courtesy of WebMD.

Laser tattoo removal can be expensive, time-consuming and painful. Nuviderm is an at-home fade and tattoo removal that is cost-effective and easy-to-use. For more information, read more about tattoo removal process.

Top Reasons For Tattoo Removal

In a 2006 study led by Myrna L. Armstrong, RD, EdD, of Texas Tech University, 196 tattooed people were interviewed about their level of happiness with their existing tattoos. The study found that nearly 1/5 of those interviewed were unhappy with their tattoos.

In cases in which those interviewed were unhappy enough to seek tattoo removal, the study found that more women (69%) than men (31%) remove tattoos.

Why do they remove tattoos? The top six reasons both men and women gave for tattoo removal:

  • 58% just decided to remove it.
  • 57% suffered embarrassment.
  • 38% had lowered body image.
  • 38% new job/career.
  • 37% problem with clothes.
  • 25% experienced stigma.

Only considering responses from women, more women are motivated to get the tattoo removed because of pressure from others or social stigma.

The findings appear in the Archives of Dermatology.

Tattoos: A Love/Hate Relationship

At the time, you thought it was a good idea to get that tattoo of your boyfriend's name on your shoulder. The relationship was meant to be; it was supposed to last a lifetime--just like the ink on your body. Now you're getting married--to a different guy--and don't want to walk down the aisle with someone else's name on your shoulder.

At the time, you loved the tattoo of your band's name scripted across all ten of your knuckles. Unfortunately, a prospective employer doesn't feel the same and you're worried you've decreased your chances of getting hired.

Sometimes, that tattoo of a cartoon character you loved and thought you'd always want just isn't your style anymore.

Fortunately, there are methods available to remove tattoos including laser, dermabrasion and removal creams. These tattoo removal methods range in price, length of treatment and ease of use.

Nuviderm
is cost-effective, quick and easy-to-use treatment for tattoo removal. Nuviderm's fade and tattoo removal is made with TCA, or trichloroacetic acid, which is commonly used by doctors, health spas and private individuals to remove fine lines and wrinkles.
